Many pray but only a few get results, God does not store prayers, He answers prayers. Does it mean God does not answer prayers anymore? God still answers prayers, He is the same God and He never changes (Ps 65:2). In the Bible, Elijah prayed for fire to come down and it came, He prayed to God that the rain should cease and it ceased; the same Elijah prayed for the abundance of rain and it rained abundantly. We shall enlightening us on the best way to pray and get results, but this concept would be incomplete if you do not read the hindrances to prayer.

(a)Come with praise (Ps 149:6): Anytime we come before the Lord with any request, we must first praise His name and acknowledge His majesty because God inhabits the praises of his people. As humans, we love it when people sing our praise then we feel the urge to bless them. So also our Father in Heaven is interested in our praise, by praising Him, we attract His attention.

Enter into His gates with thanksgiving, and into His court with praise: be thankful unto Him, and bless His name – Ps 100:4

(b)Come with the correct approach (Matt 6:9): While praying to God, we must not approach Him as a god, we must approach Him as our Father. The Father – son relationship is more respected than the Father – servant relationship. While Jesus was teaching the disciples how to pray, He regarded God as `Our Father’ , we are also expected to pray with this approach.

(c)Be specific (Mk 10:47-51): God knows our needs but we have to pray in order to claim our needs, so while praying we must state all our requests in details. We should never assume that God would correct our prayers, he would only grant our requests. For instance, a student who prays for admission and does not specify the type of admission he/she wants. It could admission into the hospital, university, college of education, polytechnic or just anywhere. It is advisable that we give a detailed description of our requests.

(d)Act according to His will and do so in faith (Matt7:7-11): As Christians, we are quite sure that without faith, it is impossible to please God. While we pray we must believe and be assured that our prayers have been answered. Take away all anxiety.

(e)Be Effectual and Fervent
